Valentine's day ideas
Special edition
Hi Fellow Foodie
Something different for you today is a newsletter focusing on Valentine's Day.
I will send out a usual newsletter soon with an update on what I have been up to and all the gossip and news in and around Mayfair. Needless to say, a lot is going on in the foodie world.
However, with Valentine's Day looming, some of our favourite restaurants have been in touch and sent me details of special meals to celebrate the day, so I’ve put together a little list which might inspire you to ditch the flowers and chocolates and go for a sport of romance at a top restaurant.
If you book any of the restaurants below, please let me know; I will be celebrating with my better half at Ruya❤️.
I've listed a few options based in Mayfair and central London and something different if you plan to stay on the 14th. Let’s kick off with Ruya.
Valentine's Day at Rüya London, the heart of Anatolian dining in Mayfair.
On Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, couples are invited to savour a carefully crafted three-course menu, complemented by signature cocktails from Whitley and Neill and a charming 'Love Box' to take home.
Kick off the evening with a Red Velvet Romance, a bespoke cocktail crafted by Head Mixologist Francesco Medici in collaboration with Whitley Neill gin - exclusively for Rüya's Valentine's celebration. Once you’ve had your first tipple, indulge in Chef Halit Deniz's thoughtfully crafted 3-course set menu featuring favourites like seared scallops, aged Rib-eye steak, Raspberry Hot Chocolate Pudding and more.
Capture your cherished moments with a ‘Love Box’ filled with Rüya's signature Lokum, mini-Negronis, a red rose and a Polaroid snapshot from the evening.
The Rüya Valentine’s experience is priced at £95 per person. Tickets and menus are available from Ruya London.

Regular readers will know how much I like the Mayfair Chippy, the quality of their seafood is excellent, and I love the idea of a three-tier seafood platter.

Staying In
If you are not planning to go out on the 14th, I have an idea for you; how about creating your very own Michelin star meal? The good people at Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Gymkhana have developed a range of their famous sauces and chutneys.
They sent me the following details.
Gymkhana Fine Foods, born out of the renowned Michelin-starred kitchen of Gymkhana in London, is the perfect solution for any at-home romantic Valentine’s Day dining you might have planned. Customers can choose from the Marinades & Chutneys Bundle (£28), All-Star Sauce Bundle (£32) and the Full Feast Bundle (£49) to gift or cook with this Valentine’s Day.
Customers can create Gymkhana’s legendary Butter Chicken Masala, or those who want to turn up the heat can add some spice to the evening with the Tiger Prawn Vindaloo curry, all in the comfort of their home.
Gift bundles will be available directly from the website HERE, or shoppers can purchase individual sauces and marinades from Ocado HERE.
If Indian food is not your thing, check out my recipe page. I've recently added a few more easy-cook recipes and plan to add more in the coming weeks as it’s great fun cooking them, and up to now, the feedback has been good🤞.
Whatever you decide to do, have a lovely day. I will return soon with all the news and gossip from my world in my next newsletter.
Thanks as always for letting me take up a few minutes of your day; it is very much appreciated.
Best Wishes,
Martin
