Mayfair Foodie Newsletter
Number 2
Fellow foodies,
I hope you are well & enjoying some good food as well as some sunshine.
Here is a quick update on my world & the latest news from the Mayfair restaurant scene. It’s been a busy time for the website. We were shown around the fantastic Hedonism by General Manager Julien Le Doare; read our review here. We also published our “reasonably priced food guide”, there are some excellent suggestions on how to eat cheaply but very well in Mayfair.
Latest News
Tendril
Renowned vegan chef Rishim Sachdeva has announced he will launch a permanent restaurant site for his Tendril (mostly) vegan brand at 5 Princes St, just off Regent Street, this summer. The new permanent restaurant home for the plant-first Tendril concept is part of The Crown Estate’s London portfolio, where Rishim has hosted a successful pop-up restaurant since June 2022. The news follows a successful crowdfund bid via the Seedrs platform in order to secure a long-term central London bricks and mortar site for the popular brand. Rishim will close the site in June to undergo a major refurbishment of the space, before re-launching as ‘Tendril (mostly) Vegan Kitchen & Bar’ later this summer.
We are pleased to announce that we will interview Rishim in a few weeks.

The Barley Mow
The Barley Mow now offers what they call a workers lunch for £15 ( I don’t think you have to prove that you have been working-Haha). There’s a different classic dish every day. Classics include the house Shepherds Pie, Grilled Middle White Sausages served with Mash, spring greens & gravy, Slow roasted Chicken, white bean & pancetta.
Pollen Street Social
Jason Atherton has recently cut prices across his chain of restaurants, stating that he wanted to make eating at his restaurants more affordable. His flagship Michelin-starred Pollen Street Social now offers set lunch for £49.50, reduced from £75
May Fair Bar
The May Fair bar offers a cocktail masterclass every other Saturday from 3 pm-5 pm. I’m told you are given cocktail-making lessons from their expert mixologist as well as the opportunity to drink your creations. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon
Coming up
I had a fantastic lunch at Veeraswamy & the review will be on the website soon, as well as an interview with Co-owner Namita Punjabi; there are some fascinating thoughts from Namita; it’s an interview not to be missed.
There will be reviews of Tendril, Hush & the 3-star Sketch. Also in the pipeline is the Mercato Mayfair show round, Langan’s Brasserie review, some exclusive news from Masala Zone & lots more.
The team at Hedonism are also looking for us to feature their restaurants & pub (Hide, Hideaway & The White Horse), something I’m looking forward to.
I’m off to Chicago & Milwaukee tomorrow for a week visiting my sister & brother-in-law. I’m going armed with plenty of suggestions for places to eat & drink also booked a brewery tour at the Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee. It should be a great trip. Check out our Insta page for some good foodie pics (fingers crossed) @mayfairfoodie
A quick question with travels in mind, would you be happy to see reviews/articles on places outside Mayfair, or would you rather I focus on in & around Mayfair? Let me know your thoughts,
So until next time,
Martin, The Mayfair Foodie.
